Bee and quince garden Ievgravas

In the garden, we tend bees and grow quinces with love and care. My grandfather gave me my first bee colonies many years ago. To give the bees a place to play, we created a quince garden next to the apiary, where we grow Latvian-bred quince varieties.

We offer educational tours on the following topics:

Beekeeping:

  • bee watching in a glass studio hive;
  • ‘bee climbing’ with an ancient beekeeping device called ‘dzeinis’, which was used to get honey from bees nests in tree cavities;
  • riddles, learning about bee nest inhabitants, different beekeeping tools;
  • tasting of different types of honey.

Flowering quince:

  • tasting of flowering quince products;
  • photo shoots during the quince blossom season;
  • making various vitamin-rich drinks using quince products.
