Maija Nora Tabaka was born on 5 November 1939 in Jelgava. In 1969, the artist graduated from the Painting Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts and has been a member of the Artists’ Union of Latvia since 1970. In 2000 she was awarded the Order of the Three Stars, in 2008 she received the annual award of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia for a lifetime contribution to the cultivation of national culture.
Maija Nora Tabaka is one of the most notable modern Latvian painters, who is able to open the hearts of viewers to beauty, inner inspiration and elation. Admirers of the artist’s work are fond of staying in the world of bright colours of the painter, where harmony and kindness, unrestrained fantasy and joy of living reign.
- Lolita Zikmane’s jubilee exhibition

Graphic artist and painter Lolita Zikmane was born on 4 June 1941 in Riga, but has been living in Jelgava since 1966. The artist graduated from the Decorative Sculpture Department of Riga Secondary School of Applied Arts and the Graphics Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts. The graphic artist has received significant international awards – the second main prize at the IV Tallinn Graphic Triennial, a prize at the VI International Graphic Triennial Intergrafika in Berlin, one of the three main prizes at the I Baltic Republics Book Art Triennial Vilnius-81, etc.
Lolita Zikmane’s exhibition is dedicated to the artist’s 80th jubilee and the brilliant works created in the recent years. The paintings displayed in the exhibition have been inspired by Jelgava Municipality and its surroundings, as well as the beauty of nature of Sikrags.
